BACOLOD City – The Bacolod Bulk Water, Inc. (BBWI) must secure an occupancy permit before its bulk water delivery across the city becomes “fully operational,” according to Isidro Sun Jr., head of the Office of the Building Official (OBO).

“As of now, the OBO has yet to receive an application for the said permit from the BBWI,” added Sun.

The BBWI – supplier for the bulk water project in the city – is conducting a test run for its water delivery from Injection Point 1 in Barangay Granada.

The test run started on Nov. 4 after the Bacolod City Water District (Baciwa) received the laboratory test result for water quality of BBWI’s supply, said Baciwa assistant general manager JenelynGemora.

The test run will help Baciwa and BBWI determine technical problems that may arise when full water delivery in the city starts.

Sun said in the event that BBWI fails to secure an occupancy permit upon “fully” delivering bulk water across Bacolod, the OBO will send it a notice of violation.

“The occupancy permit is important. It (BBWI) cannot operate without the permit,” Sun stressed.

He further explained that the occupancy permit will only be issued if the terms in the building permit were followed, to be determined through an OBO inspection.

If OBO finds out that the terms were not followed, it will require the BBWI to submit an “as-built plan,” Sun said.

Meanwhile, Gemora has yet to determine how much time the test run will take. She said all technical considerations of water delivery must be tackled./PN
