Senior citizen gets P43,500 cash back

ILOILO City – If you found a wallet containing P43,500 cash, what would you do?

A radio operator and jailer at the La Paz police station found one in front of a convenience store. And he returned it to the owner.

The 72-year-old Ely Hautea was filled with joy when he got hold of his cash-thickened wallet on June 13 after losing it.

Police Officer 3 Manuel M. Porras III was walking in front of the 7-Eleven convenient store on corner Huervana-Burgos streets in La Paz when he saw the black wallet, a police report showed.

Porras, a 38-year-old resident of Barangay Particion, Guimbal, Iloilo, was able to identify the owner as Hautea. The police officer returned the wallet to the owner.

It was not immediately clear where and how Hautea, a resident of Barangay Gustilo, La Paz, lost the wallet. (Mariane Camell Braseliño, Intern/PN)
