‘Shabu’ in matchbox seized; ‘trisikad’ driver arrested

ILOILO City – Two plastic packs of suspected shabu contained in a matchbox were seized from a resident of Barangay Sinikway, Lapuz district.

Police arrested trisikad driver Ronald Moya, 34, during a buy-bust operation on Jereos Street Extension, Barangay Lopez Jaena Sur, La Paz.

Officers recovered the matchbox from the right pocket of Moya’s short pants.

These were on top of one plastic pack of the same substance Moya sold to an undercover officer for P600, police said.

The La Paz police conducted the operation at around 4:20 p.m. on Wednesday.

They said Moya turned himself in to their station for documentation in 2016 amid the crackdown on drug users and dealers.

According to the police, Moya snorted drugs for 10 years and stopped last year.

Moya was detained at the La Paz police station. He faces charges for drug selling and possession – violations of Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002./PN
