CALUYA, Antique – GMA-TV actor Rodjun Cruz and the Miss Tres transgender trio topbill “Laugh Out Loud,” the comedy presentation of this year’s Tatusan Festival here on Saturday night, May 20, 2017.
A nephew of the late actor Ricky Belmonte, Rodjun has starred in a number of GMA tele-dramas, including “My Husband’s Lover,” “Ang Dalawang Mrs. Real,” “Princess in the Palace,” “The Story of Us,” “Conan, My Beautician,” “A1 Ko Sa’yo,” “Encantadia” and “Legally Blind.”
Looking like real women, the transgender singing-dancing trio Miss Tres performed their way to the semifinals of the talent search Asia’s Got Talent.
Adding luster to the above celebrities is another singing sensation, Riza Martinez – a product of another singing talent search, ABS-CBN TV’s “The Voice of the Philippines.”
Not to be outdone, a native singer-composer from San Jose, Antique will complete the lineup of the “Laugh Out Loud” cast. Dante Beriong is the composer and singer behind “Mauli Gid Ako sa Antique,” “Kruhay” and “Hala Bira Iloilo.”
This year’s Tatusan Festival, according to Mayor Genevive Lim Reyes, promises to be the best ever. The opening day on May 18 will kick off with an inaugural mass, segue into blessing of circumferential road and parade, opening ceremony, photo-art exhibit, agro-industrial fare, “hurma-baras” (sculpting white-sand beach) and climax into a lively “Battle of the Bands,” a band-music competition open to amateur bands.
The May 19 main attraction is the “Drum and Lyre Corps Competition” showcasing participants from ten elementary schools representing different Caluya barangays, coinciding with the day-long beach party.
The third and final day will see the Tatusan “warriors” performing on the streets, where they may be joined by the spectators in stepping the “sadsad.”
Also slated on the final day are the “Bugsay sa Baybay,” “Panguyang sa Baybay,” “Awarding Ceremony” and “Grand Fireworks.”
