Sigma village officials hand over to cops 4 unlicensed guns

Barangay Captain Melvin Caporal of Parian, Sigma, Capiz and other village officials turn over to the local police station under Senior Inspector Christian Mahometano four unlicensed firearms some of their locals surrendered.

ROXAS City – Barangay officials in Sigma, Capiz have turned over four unlicensed firearms to the municipal police station.

The Sigma police station temporarily kept the weapons and will soon turn them over to the Crime Laboratory.

The owners were some residents of Barangay Parian, said Senior Inspector Christian Mahometano, Sigma police chief.

But Barangay Captain Melvin Caporal and the village councilmen did not disclose the identity of the locals who surrendered the guns to them, Mahometano said.

Currently in the custody of the Sigma police were:

* homemade .45 pistol

* homemade .38 revolver

* homemade .22 revolver

* homemade shotgun

Caporal and his fellow village officials went to the Sigma police station Wednesday to hand over the firearms in support of the local police’s “Tokhang Kontra sa Ginadumilian nga Pusil,” a campaign against loose firearms./PN
