ILOILO City – A soldier and a civilian died while two other soldiers were injured when two motorcycles crashed against each other on Sunday.

The crash in Barangay Bolho, Miagao, Iloilo was fatal to Corporal Iluminado Rilleta and the 28-year-old Arvin Flonasca, police said. Both sustained head and body injuries.

Rilleta was a native of Bohol assigned at the camp of the Philippine Army’s 94th Infantry (Bravo Company) Battalion in Miagao while Flonasca was a resident of Barangay Bacauan in the town.

Both were driving the motorcycles involved in the crash.

Rilleta’s back riders – fellow Corporals Jake Villanueva, 30, and Ryan Bauzon – were injured on their bodies and legs. They were confined in the Western Visayas Medical Center in Mandurriao district here.

Rilleta and his fellow soldiers were bound for Camp Monteclaro when they accidentally crashed against the motorcycle of the homebound Flonasca at around 1 a.m., said Police Officer 3 Jesus Montiel, a traffic investigator for the Miagao police station.

Flonasca was pronounced “dead on arrival” at the Miagao Rural Health Clinic while Rilleta died at the Guimbal District Hospital./PN
