BACOLOD City – Senate President Vicente “Tito” Sotto III, one of the guests of honor during Monday’s inauguration and oath-taking ceremony of city officials here, challenged them to set the example in good local governance.
“Bacolod City should be a good example for the entire Negros Occidental in fortifying and upgrading the local governance,” said Sotto.
He also urged the top officials to again showcase for the Visayas, the success and the development of this capital city for the next three years.
The Senate president administered the oath-taking of re-elected Mayor Evelio Leonardia.
Senate Majority Floor Leader Juan Miguel “Migz” Zubiri, meanwhile, swear in Rep. Greg Gasataya.
Earlier, it was reported that Senator Franklin Drilon will swear in Familiaran, but the senator was not able to arrive during the event due to bad weather.
Leonardia, during his message, appealed to the people of Bacolod.
“Let us climb every mountain together, let us search high and low and let us follow every rainbow until we fight our dream,” he said.
On his part, Familiaran asked his constituents to unite and help each other to address the problems in the city.
Gasataya, meanwhile, vowed to continue his programs on social services, health, sports, and infrastructure projects.
Also present in the event were Russia Ambassador Igor Khovaev, South Korea Ambassador Dong-man Han, U.S. Embassy Political Section – Internal Political Unit chief Joshua Morris, singer-songwriter and businessman Jose Mari Chan, Negros Occidental Gov. Eugenio Lacson, Silay City Mayor Mark Golez, and other local officials in the province.
Commission on Election commissioner Rowena Guanzon administered the oath-taking of Familiaran while 1Pacman Party-list Representative Michael Romero led the oath of office of elected councilors Cindy Rojas, Renecito Novero, Simple Distrito, Carl Lopez, Al Victor Espino, Archie Baribar, Isreal Salanga, Dindo Ramos, Bartolome Orola Jr., Ana Marie Palermo, Elmer Sy, and Wilson Gamboa Jr./PN
