ST. ROBERT’s International Academy Panda Rockets and Hua Siong College of Iloilo Red Phoenix topped their groups in the 2019 Bingawan Foundation Cup-Preseason High School Basketball Premier Tournament-Season 3.
The Panda Rockets scored back-to-back victories over the weekend at the Bingawan Gym to finish on top of Bracket B, while defending champions Red Phoenix was unscathed in Bracket A.
The Panda Rockets controlled the match from start to finish as it defeated Sta. Clarita International School Primes, 98-69, on Sunday. Gwyn Miles Pendon was hailed as the Player of the Game with 26 points.
St. Roberts also scored a lopsided win on Saturday as it defeated Assumption School-Passi City Golden Doves, 86-54. Negrense Irele Galas tallied 15 markers for the winning team.
The Red Phoenix, meanwhile, pulled off a 100-73 Hercor College Junior Jaguars. Big man Reniel Gamboa was hailed as the Player of the Match with 24 points contribution.
CenterPhil Montessori Silver Knights also secured its place in the quarterfinals with 114-76 annihilation of Bingawan National High School. Lester Valn Paraico waxed hot with 37 points for the Silver Knights.
Quarterfinals action begins on July 6 with the Silver Knights facing Golden Doves at 1:30 pm and the Primes tangling with Junior Jaguars at three in the afternoon./PN
