ILOILO City – Despite his injuries, a resident of Barangay Don Esteban, Lapuz district managed to arrest the man he accused of stabbing him.

Suspect Marcelino Pineda, 48, was detained at the La Paz police station. He was facing a frustrated homicide charge.

He was accused of attacking Noreil Anatan, 39, at around 11:30 p.m. on Wednesday.

Anatan was walking home with his wife when he stopped by a store to buy cigarette.

That was when Anatan had a “misunderstanding” with Pineda, who stabbed him using an unidentified weapon twice on the left chest, a police report showed.

It was not immediately clear what the misunderstanding was about.

Anatan arrested Pineda and brought him to the station with the help of two officers on patrol, the report stated.

Police referred Anatan to the West Visayas State University Medical Center in Jaro for the treatment of his stab wounds and the bruise on his stomach./PN
