ILOILO Citty – The city government plans to repair the Iloilo Terminal Market, also known as “Super”, and Iloilo Central Market and their drainage systems.
The repairs would be the long-term solution to the problems bugging vendors like flooding and leaking roofs, said Local Economic Enterprise Office (LEEO) head Ariel Castañeda.
“When there’s flood, we often declog their drainage. However, Mayor Jed Patrick Mabilog wanted to provide a long-term solution,” said Castañeda.
The rehabilitation is expected to push through within the year. The markets will be restructured by an Ilonggo architect.
Once the rehabilitation is completed, the markets are expected to attract more customers, thus helping the vendors earn more, said Castañeda.
He expressed confidence that the vendors will support the mayor’s plan for market renovation.
