BACOLOD City – The Sangguniang Panlungsod (SP) requested the Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO) to assist the Bacolod Traffic Authority Office (BTAO) in enforcing traffic rules in the city.
The SP also asked BCPO director Senior Superintendent Jack Wanky to deploy more police officers to the streets.
The BCPO has a traffic management unit, according to Councilor Caesar Distrito, chairman of the SP committee on laws, ordinances and good government.
“The unit is tasked to strictly implement city traffic rules and ensure the smooth flow of traffic,” said Distrito.
Distrito also stressed that a “concerted effort” from the BCPO and the BTAO is needed to address traffic congestion and other road problems.
“Our traffic enforcers need the assistance of the police, especially in apprehending violators,” said Distrito.
BTAO head Luisito Acebuche was also the chief of the traffic management unit./PN
