ILOILO City – The police arrested a woman they accused of soliciting bets for the illegal numbers game “bookies” in Barangay Don Esteban, Lapuz district.
The 41-year-old Geraldine Medina was detained at the La Paz police station on Nov. 16.
Around 2:10 p.m., the police caught her collecting bets from the residents.
Cops recovered P576 cash and gambling paraphernalia from the suspect.
Medina faces a charge for violating Republic 9287 that outlaws illegal gambling, specifically Section 3 (c).
If found guilty by the court for being a collector or agent (cabo, cobrador, coriador or variants thereof), Medina faces the penalty of imprisonment from eight years and one day to 10 years./PN
