ILOILO City – Thirteen sachets of shabu were confiscated from a suspected member of the Prevendido drug group yesterday in Barangay Mali-ao, Pavia, Iloilo.
Jomarie Sumayang, 36, was arrested near his house around 11:15 a.m. and taken to the municipal police station.
An undercover police officer bought from Sumayang a sachet of shabu. Twelve more were found in his possession after his arrest.
Yesterday’s buy-bust operation was carried out by the Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit of the Iloilo Police Provincial Office (IPPO) and Pavia police station.
According to Chief Inspector Jonathan Pinuela, IPPO intelligence chief, the suspect was the provincial police’s No. 1 target.
Citing intelligence information, Pinuela said Sumayang got his shabu supply from Barangay Bakhaw, Mandurriao, Iloilo City where suspected fugitive drug lord Richard Prevendido lived.
Sumayang was difficult to catch, added Pinuela. He was distrustful of people and would deliver the shabu himself, the cop explained.
Sumayang, however, denied being a drug pusher.
