Suspected drug group member killed

BACOLOD City – Police shot and killed a suspected member of the Divinagracia drug group in Barangay 2 (Poblacion), EB Magalona, Negros Occidental.

Police claimed the 47-year-old Noel “Ampatuan” Bolivar engaged them in a shootout at around 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.

Bolivar, a resident of Barangay Tabigue, EB Magalona, was taken to the Teresita Lopez Jalandoni Provincial Hospital in Silay City where he was pronounced “dead on arrival.”

He sustained three gunshot wounds on the body, said Senior Inspector Jaynick Bermudez, EB Magalona police head.

Police searched the victims’ body and recovered a .45 pistol, a sachet of suspected shabu and P6,500 cash.

Seven smaller plastic packs of the same substance scattered in the area after the incident.

His children and wife claimed that Bolivar was “framed.” They insisted that somebody called him to go to the village where he was killed.

The victim’s mobile phone was nowhere to be found.

Bolivar was reportedly visiting Maricar Canete at the time but the latter denied that the former had gone to their house.

Officers from the EB Magalona police station and the Provincial Drug Enforcement Unit of the Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office operated against Bolivar./PN
