BACOLOD City — Bacolod Tay Tung High School stamped its class as the undisputed powerhouse of secondary girls volleyball, completing a dominant sweep of the Bacolod City Division Meet on Monday at the Montalbo Gym.
The Thunderbolts, representing Unit 5, did not drop a match throughout the tournament as they overpowered the field with a balanced, disciplined system anchored on sharp attacking, tight net control, and steady floor defense.
Unit 5 star Rhosé Viane Almendralejo emerged as the tournament’s biggest standout, capturing Best Outside Hitter, Finals Best Player, and Most Valuable Player honors. Her consistent scoring and leadership powered Tay Tung’s unbeaten run.
Middle blockers Briana Nikola Ang and Zelveir Faith Banguiao dominated the front line for the Thunderbolts, securing both Best Middle Blocker awards after imposing performances at the net.
Tay Tung further swept key skill positions: Maria Shannen Bañas was named Best Libero, Daniela Anne Saluria took Best Server, and Jan Rose Bulak earned Best Setter for orchestrating the Thunderbolts’ fluid offense.
Unit 5 head coach Roemel Tañiñas was awarded Best Coach, cementing Tay Tung’s near-total takeover of the tournament’s major individual distinctions.
Only two awards went to non-Tay Tung players — Unit 4’s Micah Ella Melligen (Best Outside Hitter) and Erikha Bless Toleco (Best Opposite Hitter).
Tay Tung’s championship roster included Almendralejo, Ang, Bulak, Alexa Bertolano, Jhanine Mayang, Luchi Vivero, Banguiao, Ana Ysabelle Hermosura, Memielle Letran, Saluria, and Bañas.
With the victory, the Thunderbolts closed the city meet as the runaway dominant force in the secondary girls division./PN
