NEGROS Occidental – A 17-year-old boy was killed in a shooting incident along the national highway in Barangay Refugio, Calatrava town, on February 5.
The victim identified as alias “John” was a resident of Barangay 5, San Carlos City.
According to the Calatrava Municipal Police Station (MPS), authorities initially received a report of a vehicular accident at around 9:35 p.m. on Wednesday. A responding team composed of duty officers, investigators, and traffic personnel immediately proceeded to the area to verify the report.
Upon arrival, police learned that the victim had already been transported by an ambulance of the Calatrava Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (MDRRMO) to the Calatrava Municipal Hospital.
The attending physician later declared the victim dead on arrival at around 10 p.m.
Medical examination revealed that the teenager sustained a gunshot wound on the right side of the head, with an exit wound at the back portion of the head.
The firearm used and the identity of the suspect remained unknown as of press time.
Police have launched a thorough investigation to determine the motive behind the shooting and to identify the perpetrator. Authorities urged witnesses or anyone with information related to the incident to coordinate with the Calatrava MPS./PN
