BACOLOD City – The ongoing test run for bulk water delivery across the city will last until Dec. 3, according to Jenelyn Gemora, assistant general manager of the Bacolod City Water District (Baciwa).
This was confirmed by Ryan Yapkianwee – chairman of the Bacolod Bulk Water, Inc. (BBWI) – to Panay News via text message yesterday.
The test and commission activity that BBWI started on Nov. 4 aims to determine technical problems that may arise when full water delivery in the city begins.
BBWI has started delivering water to some areas in the city through Baciwa’s main pipeline after its supply from Injection Point 1 in Barangay Granada passed the laboratory check for water quality.
Gemora said when its full delivery starts, BBWI can supply about 10 to 15 million liters of water per day.
This is 20 percent of Baciwa’s existing water supply, which is sourced from its deep wells, added Gemora.
“They (BBWI personnel) are stabilizing their operations,” Gemora said.
BBWI also gathers information on turbidity and water current in the river where it sources its supply while the test run is going on.
Earlier, Isidro Sun Jr., head of the Office of the Building Official, reminded BBWI to secure an occupancy permit before its bulk water delivery becomes fully operational.
BBWI entered into a P1.1-billion contract with Baciwa for the 25-year bulk water project on March 2, 2016.
Under the contract, BBWI must set up two water plants in the city: one in Barangay Granada and another in Barangay Mansilingan.
The Injection Point 2 in Barangay Mansilingan is expected to operate next year./PN
