Third consecutive bomb threat disrupts INHS

ILOILO City – For the third straight day, Iloilo National High School (INHS) in La Paz district here was forced to activate security protocols after receiving another bomb threat before sunrise on Wednesday, Nov. 19 — adding to the growing string of threats that have unsettled campuses across Iloilo in recent weeks.

INHS Assistant Principal II Julius Plondaya confirmed in an interview with RMN Iloilo that the message was again sent through the school’s official Facebook page by a user identified as “Axcel Rodriguez,” the same name linked to threats received on Nov. 17 and 18.

Plondaya said the repeated scare tactics have placed a heavy emotional burden on students, parents, and school staff. He appealed to whoever is behind the threats to stop sowing fear, noting that these disruptions have repeatedly interrupted classes and required thorough inspections of multiple buildings.

Screenshots of the messages circulating online show the sender claiming to have planted several improvised devices in various areas of the campus — including the main building, BL area, TVL building, quad, SPS building, SPJ, and the arts building. Another message sent earlier in the morning listed similar locations and warned that some supposed bombs were timed to “turn off” later in the day. Authorities, however, have not found any explosives in previous sweeps.

School officials are set to deliberate on whether to call off classes while police conduct another round of inspections.

The incident comes amid a surge of bomb threats reported in Iloilo’s schools since early October. Campuses such as West Visayas State University, ISAT-U La Paz, Hua Siong College of Iloilo, and several others have been targeted, leading to evacuations and temporary class suspensions as law enforcers assess each threat.

Police investigators continue to track the origin of the messages and urged the public to avoid spreading unverified information while authorities work to secure affected campuses./PN
