ILOILO City – An anti-drug operation carried out by the Iloilo City Police Office-Drug Enforcement Unit (ICPO-DEU) dealt another blow to the illegal drug trade in the city, leading to the arrest of three alleged high-value suspects.
Aliases “Abraham”, 44; Manuel, 58; and Rodrigo, 49, all residents of Molo district, yielded approximately 55 grams of suspected methamphetamine hydrochloride, locally known as shabu, valued at over P374,000 in a buy-bust operation at 8:53 p.m. on Monday, April 21, in Barangay Kasing-kasing, Molo.
Authorities said the seized illegal drugs were packed in seven plastic sachets and were believed to be intended for local distribution.
Police Regional Office 6 director Brigadier General Jack L. Wanky, meanwhile, said that the successful operation reflects both the dedication of law enforcers and the active role of the public.
“Our operations continue to be fueled by community support. Timely information from concerned citizens has proven to be instrumental in our campaign against illegal drugs,” Wanky said, adding that the arrest is part of a series of intensified operations across Western Visayas.
The suspects are now under police custody and will be facing charges for violating Republic Act 9165, or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002./PN
