ILOILO City – A farmer killed his brother suffering from a nervous breakdown in Barangay Supa, Tigbauan, Iloilo but told the police he was just defending himself.
Detained at the municipal police station, the 54-year-old Jerry Garganza admitted hitting younger brother Rey, 50, with a stone on the head around 7 p.m. on Tuesday.
But it was only because Rey became uncontrollable and tried to stab him, said Jerry.
The incident happened at Jerry’s house, said Senior Inspector Hermogenes Eulatic, Tigbauan police chief.
Prior to this, Rey tried to torch Jerry’s house, the police learned.
According to Jerry, he merely wanted to subdue the knife-wielding Rey and did not intend to kill him./PN
