ILOILO – Tigbauan town’s No. 1 most wanted man and an unidentified companion died in a shootout with policemen in Blue Mountain, Barangay Sta. Cruz, Antipolo City, Rizal.

Reagan Gepulango was a resident of Barangay Guisian, Tigbauan.

According to Police Colonel Gilbert Gorero, director of the Iloilo Police Provincial Office, it was around 6:30 p.m. on March 10 when anti-kidnapping operatives of the Philippine National Police (PNP) served Gepulango a warrant of arrest.

Gepulango fired on the operatives; this prompted the cops to retaliate.

Recovered from the shootout site were a .9mm pistol and two .45-caliber pistols loaded with ammunition.

As of this writing, police have yet to identify Gepulango’s companion.

Gepulango was facing five criminal cases including carnapping, illegal possession of explosives, attempted homicide, attempted murder, and murder, a police report showed.

Gepulango was accused of killing Jose Ricky Lego on April 26, 2012 in Barangay Parara, Tigbauan.

“This is the result of our campaign against wanted persons. I urged police chiefs to monitor wanted persons in their areas of responsibility,” Gorero said.

Meanwhile, Gepulango’s wife who asked not to be named said the last time her husband went home was in 2016, according to Police Major Roy Castro, Tigbauan police chief.

He had since left the town and hid in a relative’s house./PN
