KALIBO, Aklan – A Philippine National Police “Oplan Tokhang” surrenderer was arrested in a police buy-bust operation here on Nov. 5.
The 25-year-old suspect Alexis Barial Diangson was a resident of Barangay Tigayon, Kalibo. He sold a small heat-sealed plastic sachet containing suspected shabu for P2,500 to a police officer who posed as a buyer.
The buy-bust operation took place at around 6:25 p.m. in Sitio Flores, Barangay Linabuan Norte, Kalibo.
Another sachet of suspected shabu was seized from the suspect during the body search.
The entrapment operation was conducted by operatives of the Kalibo municipal police station.
Kalibo police chief Major Belshazzar Villanoche said the suspect was placed under surveillance prior to the buy-bust.
“Tumakbo ang suspek bago siya nahuli ng ating kapulisan,” said Villanoche.
He described Diangson as a “street value pusher”.
“Dito sa mga kalapit na barangay ng Tigayon, Linabuan ang kanyang operasyon,” the chief of police added.
Diangson surrendered to authorities in 2016 in line with the police’s Oplan Tokhang campaign against illegal drugs.
The suspect was arrested for illegal drugs in 2017 in Poblacion, Kalibo. He was released following a plea bargaining agreement but the police said they later found he was still engaged in illegal drug activities.
Meanwhile, Diangson’s live-in partner voluntarily turned over to the police after the buy-bust operation a plastic sachet containing suspected dried marijuana leaves and stem, two pieces of rolled aluminum foil inside a transparent plastic sachet, and a plastic sachet of suspected shabu.
Diangson was taken to the Kalibo police station lock-up cell.
He would be charged with violation of sections 5 and 11 of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002./PN
