‘Torotot more fun than ‘crackers’

ILOILO City – Choose torotot over firecrackers in celebrating Christmas and welcoming the New Year, some 350 pupils of Mabini Elementary School in the City Proper were told.

The pupils attended a symposium on explosives and firecrackers recently.

The symposium was part of the EOD CARE (Campaign and Advocacy Regarding Explosives), a joint project of the Iloilo City Police Office (ICPO) and Police Regional Office. Its goal was to inform the children about the danger of explosives and firecrackers.

According to Senior Officer 2 Rina Salaya of ICPO’s Police Station 1, children were taught, among others, to stay away from being injured by firecrackers and other explosives.

“This is a good project. This Christmas season our children are fond of playing with firecrackers,” said Salaya.

Children were warned that firecrackers could harm the; the torotot, on the other hand, was definitely safer./PN
