CAPIZ — A training on eco-bricking as one of the solutions to plastic pollution was held in the town of Tapaz, Capiz recently.

The activity, held at Tapaz Government Center, was spearheaded by Municipal Environment and Natural Resources Office (MENRO)-Tapaz headed by Engr. Neriza Pacenio with Capiz Provincial Environment and Natural Resources Office (CaPENRO), and the 16 barangays of the town.

According to Tapaz Vice Mayor Ma. Fe G. Gardose, the problem of solid waste starts at home especially if it is not managed properly, it can eventually cause ill effects to the environment and the health of the people.

Engr. Apple Grace Lata, Section Head-EMS Unit of the CaPENRO was the resource person of the activity wherein she discussed eco-bricking and how it can help minimize plastic pollution.

Mayor Roberto O. Palomar, on his part, thanked the participants for spending time to learn to help the environment. He also emphasized the importance of addressing plastic pollution through this kind of training.

Meanwhile, the training participants include the MENRO Staff and representative and village chief of the 16 barangays namely Poblacion, Initan, Daan Banwa, Switch, San Jose, San Julian, Lagdungan, and Salong for Cluster I and  Candelaria, Taft, Malitbong, Bag-ong Barrio, San Nicolas, Camburanan, San Francisco, and Carida under Cluster II/PN.
