Treñas aligns with Sara’s Hugpong ng Pagbabago

ILOILO City – From the ruling Partido Demokratiko Pilipino – Lakas ng Bayan (PDP-Laban), Cong. Jerry Treñas transferred to the National Unity Party (NUP).

The transfer’s goal is for his election line-up to have a stronger alliance with Hugpong ng Pagbabago, the Davao-based regional political party headed by the President’s daughter, Davao City mayor Sara Duterte, said Treñas.

NUP has allied itself with Hugpong ng Pagbabago.

Treñas is running for mayor against incumbent Mayor Jose Espinosa III of the Nacionalista Party (NP).

“We confirmed nga nagsaylo ang aton grupo sa NUP except for Vice Mayor Jeffrey Ganzon and son Rudolph who have opted to remain with the local Timawa Party,” said Treñas yesterday.

It was not hard to choose NUP as new party because the party’s president is an Ilonggo, Deputy Speaker Ferjenel Castro of Capiz, added Treñas.

The congressman and his line-up will file their certificates of candidacy tomorrow.

After hearing a 7:30 a.m. mass at the Santa Maria Catholic Church, they will march toward the Commission on Elections city office at the Iloilo Terminal Market.

Treñas’ running mate is Ganzon. Their candidate for congresswoman is former councilor Julienne Baronda.

Their candidates for councilor are reelectionists Lady Julie Grace Baronda, Ely Estante, Armand Parcon, and Jay Treñas, Reyland Hervias Jojo Javellana, Rodulph Jeffrey Ganzon, Gilbert Garcia, Allan Zaldivar, and Romel Duron./PN
