BACOLOD City – Belinda Sencil was standing on the roadside in Barangay Pandanon, Murcia, Negros Occidental when a tricycle hit her.

The 61-year-old widow from the same village died. Her body was pinned to a concrete fence, police said.

She was rushed to the rural health unit and later transferred to a private hospital in this city, where she was pronounced “dead on arrival.” She sustained injuries on the head and body, police said.

Senior Inspector Ronald Santillan, Murcia police chief, said the incident happened around 4:45 p.m. on May 22.

The tricycle driver — 45-year-old Nestor Bayono Jr. of Barangay Taculing, Bacolod City — was detained at the Murcia police station.

Bayono was heading back to Bacolod City from Salvador Benedicto when his tricycle swerved, hit Sencil and crashed against a fence, investigation showed./PN
