Trillanes kin ‘emotionally’ ready for possible arrest

Sen. Antonio Trillanes IV

MANILA – Sen. Antonio Trillanes IV said his family is prepared should he be arrested again.

His family members have “psychologically and emotionally” prepared themselves for such a scenario as it had happened to him before, said the embattled senator.

Trillanes and other Magdalo soldiers had been jailed before for staging two coup d’états during the time of former president and how House Speaker Gloria Macapagal Arroyo.

“This is not the first time na pinagdaraanan nila ito. Kahit papano nakapaghanda na sila psychologically and emotionally,” Trillanes said.

Ang kanilang tinitignan, ako. ‘Pag nakita nilang di naman ako problemado, ‘yun ang assurances na kailangan nila,” he added.

Trillanes said should he be detained, he will continue doing his job as a senator, adding that he has left his family and staff with instructions.

The Makati City Regional Trial Court (RTC) Branch 148 has not yet decided on whether or not Trillanes should be arrested for his coup d’état charge in connection with the 2003 Oakwood mutiny.

Judge Andres Soriano of the Makati RTC Branch 148 said he might come out with a verdict next week.

There will be another hearing Oct. 5, added Soriano.

President Rodirog Duterte issued Proclamation 572 which declared void ab initio the amnesty that former president Benigno Aquino III granted Trillabnes.

Trillanes failed to comply with the “minimum requirements to qualify under the amnesty proclamation,” the proclamation stated.

It added that Trillanes did not file an official amnesty application form and has never expressed his guilt for the crimes that were committed during the two mutinies./PN
