ILOILO – A sport utility vehicle of Provincial Board member Jess Salcedo figured in an accident in Barangay Tinocuan, Dingle town.

Salcedo was on board his Toyota Fortuner when a 10-wheeler truck sideswiped it around 12:45 p.m. yesterday, police said.

Bebs Libreja, 36, of Sara was driving the Fortuner (plate number: FGZ-225) bound for Iloilo City.
Another person, who was not immediately identified, was on board with Salcedo.

Eric Gomez, 25, of Cabuyao, Laguna was driving the truck (plate number: RND-818) to Passi City when the accident happened, police said.
It appeared Gomez did not know the rear side of his truck sideswiped another vehicle as he continuously drove, Libreja claimed.
“Ginlagas pa sia namon (We chased him)” until he was intercepted in Dueñas, Libreja told Panay News.

Gomez told the Dingle police he was clueless about the incident.

“Nag-swing kuno ang likod nga parte sang truck niya, abi niya daw nagdahog lang ang kaha sang salakyan kag ang goma niya. Wala man sia naglantaw sa side mirror,” said Police Officer 2 Luther Madarse.

Gomez and a companion, who was also unnamed, were held at the Dingle police station but were freed after a settlement with Salcedo.
The truck had scratches on its left side, while the Fortuner incurred damage on the bumper sides and the driver and left passenger doors.
None of the people on board the vehicles were injured./PN
