BACOLOD City – A tornado blew away four houses and three market stalls in Barangay Tabao Proper, Valladolid, Negros Occidental.
The houses were owned by Gertrudes Ubaldo, Nancy Artillado, Carmen Sillado, and Ninfa Palasuelo, according to Barangay Captain Gina Ellaga.
A tornado is a violent rotating column of air extending from a thunderstorm to the ground. The most violent tornadoes are capable of tremendous destruction with wind speeds of up to 300 miles per hour. They can destroy large buildings, uproot trees and hurl vehicles hundreds of yards.
In Barangay Tabao Proper, the tornado struck Friday afternoon last week.
The stalls blown away were owned by Helen Jocson, Candy Hiponia and Samuel Gonzales.
This was not the first time a twister struck Valladolid. On Aug. 12, several houses were also blown away.
As of this writing, there was no estimate yet of the damage. Brought the Oct. 28 tornado./PN
