ILOILO – Two men were arrested for illegal possession of a firearm and ammunition in Barangay Malunang, Zarraga town over the weekend.
Zarrag police identified the suspects as aliases “Rafy”, 21, a security guard and resident of Barangay Cruz, Barotac Nuevo, Iloilo, and “Jason”, 24, from Barangay San Vicente, Leganes town.
Police on patrol approached the two who were pushing their motorcycle on the road at around 12:50 a.m. on Saturday, October 4, after they noticed a gun tucked in Rafy’s waistband.
When confronted by law enforcers, Rafy failed to show documents for his ownership of a caliber .38 revolver with four rounds of ammunition which resulted in his arrest.
Jason was also arrested for possessing two rounds of caliber .38 revolver ammunition.
The suspects are currently detained at the Zarraga Municipal Police Station. They will be charged for violating Republic Act 10591 (Comprehensive Firearms and Ammunition Regulation Act)./PN
