ILOILO City – Two most wanted persons for rape in Western Visayas were arrested in two separate operations in Iloilo Province.
Police said alias “Boyboy,” 20, a resident of Barangay Poblacion Zone 2, Estancia, Iloilo, was arrested at around 6:35 p.m. on New Year’s day, January 1. Tagged as the region’s No. 3 fugitive, Boyboy was caught through an arrest warrant for the crime of rape by carnal knowledge under Article 266-A, Paragraph 1 of the Revised Penal Code, as amended, in relation to Republic Act (RA) 7610, issued by the Regional Trial Court’s Branch 71 in Barotac Viejo town.
The following day, January 2, the region’s No. 2 fugitive, alias “Roel,” 38 of Barangay Bolo, Maasin town, was apprehended at 3 p.m. He is facing charges for the crime of statutory rape in relation to RA 7610.
Both suspects were taken into police custody. No bail bond was recommended for their temporary freedom.
Police Brigadier General Josefino Ligan, director of the Police Regional Office 6 (PRO-6), commended the personnel of the Estancia and Maasin police stations for the successful arrest of the two fugitives.
“The arrest of two of the region’s most wanted individuals is a strong and encouraging start to the year. These accomplishments show commitment to justice and public safety, as wanted persons are being tracked down and arrested one by one,” Ligan said./PN
