MANILA – University of Santo Tomas Golden Tigresses and National University Lady Bulldogs stayed unbeaten in the UAAP Season 81 beach volleyball at Sands SM By The Bay in Pasay City.
Led by Cherry Rondina and Babylove Barbon, the defending champions Golden Tigresses edged the Ateneo Lady Eagles pair of Pauline Gaston and Jules Samonte, 21-9, 21-15.
The Tigresses pair followed this up with a 21-14, 21-14 domination over Ernestine Tiamzon and Michelle Morente of one-time champions De La Salle University Lady Spikers.
Lady Bulldogs also maintained its unbeaten run behind rookies Klymince Orilleneda and Antonnete Landicho, who topped University of the Philippines Lady Maroons’ Isa Molde and Justine Dorog, 21-19, 21-10.
Orilleneda and Landicho, who were just last-minute replacements for their school, followed it up with a 21-15, 21-15 win over University of the East Lady Warriors’ Rhea Manalo and Lyen Shan Ritual.
Lady Spikers’ Tiamzon and Morente was able to bounce back from their loss to the Tigresses as it dominated Bacolodnon Hannah Nicole Infante and Gracelchen Ave of Adamson Lady Falcons, 21-10, 21-5.
The Lady Maroons and Lady Eagles entered the win column after two straight losses with the former defeating Far Eastern University Lady Tamaraws’ Ivana Agudo and Marianne Calinawan, 21-18, 21-11, while the latter turning Lady Falcons 21-14, 21-14./PN
