United Negros names PCL prexy bet

BACOLOD City – The United Negros Alliance (UNEGA) has named its presidential bet for the Philippine Councilor’s League (PCL)-Negros Chapter.

Vice Gov. Jeffrey Ferrer confirmed on Tuesday that Sagay City councilor Arthur Marañon will be running for the highest position of the PCL in the province.

UNEGA is a one of the major political parties in Negros Occidental.

Last May 13 elections, UNEGA joined forces with its former rival Love-Negros coalition.

Ferrer said despite the merging of two political groups, Love-Negros will still set up their own officers to run for the PCL election.

“There was no arrangement done between the UNEGA and Love Negros,” said Ferrrer.

He added “we are in democracy and anybody who wants to run they can.”

Meanwhile, Abang Lingkod Partylist Representative Stephen Paduano said the PCL is not included in the “merger” agreement between Love-Negros and the United Negros Alliance.

Paduano said Love-Negros is still looking for a possible candidate after Kabankalan City councilor Miguel Zayco withdrew his PCL presidential bid./PN
