ILOILO City – The two-day exhibition games between the University of the Philippines (UP) Fighting Maroons and the San Beda University Red Lions, which were originally scheduled this weekend in Passi City and Iloilo City, have been postponed.

Slam n’ Jam Sports Management said in a statement last night that the postponement was in line with President Rodrigo Duterte’s Proclamation No. 922, declaring a State of Public Health Emergency throughout the Philippines due to the coronavirus disease 2019 outbreak.

“We already have everything in place and the two teams are all set to go, but we were constrained to postpone this event due to circumstances which are beyond our control,” the Slam n’ Jam Sports said.

The management added that the move was also in support to the calls of Mayor Jerry Treñas and Gov. Arthur “Toto” Defensor Jr. to refrain from holding any events that can draw crowd or mass gatherings.

Aside from the orders of the national and local governments, the UP chancellor issued a memorandum recently to cancel all events involving UP students.
