ILOILO City – The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) may fund three projects of the city government.
These are the Comprehensive Drainage Plan, Traffic Management Plan and the proposed establishment of a groundwater supply.
USAID is the lead US government agency that works to end extreme global poverty and enable resilient, democratic societies to realize their potential.
During a recent meeting with Jeremy Gustafson, director of the Office of Environment, Energy and Climate Change of USAID Philippines, Mayor Jose Espinosa III presented the three projects for possible assistance.
Amid rapid urbanization, this city needs to address its growing concerns on drainage, traffic and water supply, said Espinosa.
USAID invests in ideas that work to improve the lives of millions of men, women and children by:
- investing in agricultural productivity so countries can feed their people

combating maternal and child mortality and deadly diseases like the human immunodeficiency virus, malaria and tuberculosis

providing life-saving assistance in the wake of disaster

promoting democracy, human rights and good governance around the world

fostering private sector development and sustainable economic growth

helping communities adapt to a changing environment

elevating the role of women and girls throughout all our work.
