MANILA – University of Santo Tomas Golden Tigresses and Far Eastern University Lady Tamaraws stayed unscathed in the UAAP Season 80 beach volleyball on Sunday at the Sands SM by the Bay in Pasay City.

Both teams holding a 6-0 win-loss card, Golden Tigresses and Lady Tamaraws are set to face off Monday in a step-ladder semifinal match, whose winner will directly advance to the championship.

Defending champion Golden Tigresses’ Cherry Rondina and Caitlyn Viray tallied their sixth victory with a 21-7, 21-9 sweep of the University of the East Lady Warriors’ Judith Abil and Angelica Dacaymat.

Negrense Bernadeth Pons and Kyla Atienza also scored its sixth win of the season following a 21-2, 21-7 domination over Ilongga Roma Doromal and Audrey Paran of National University Lady Bulldogs.

University of the Philippines Lady Maroons also claimed its first final four appearance since 2012 as Diana Carlos and Arielle Estranero defeated De La Salle University Lady Spikers’ May Luna and Ernestine Tiamzon 21-17, 21-17.

Meanwhile, Ateneo Lady Eagles’ Bea De Leon and Jules Samonte whipped Adamson University Lady Falcons’ Bernadeth Flora and Chrislyn Uy 21-12, 23-21.

In men’s action, NU Bulldogs’ Bryan Bagunas and James Natividad moved closer to an outright finals stint after tallying their fifth win over Ateneo Blue Eagles’ Marck Espejo and Karl Baysa 21-19, 21-16.

Defending champions UST Tiger Spikers’ Kris Roy Guzman and Anthony Arbasto stayed on second place with 4-1 as they prevailed over DLSU Green Spikers’ Carlo Sendo and Wayne Marco 21-13, 21-14./PN
