Victorias City drug suspect killed in shootout

BACOLOD City – A drug suspect was killed in shootout with police authorities in Barangay 20, Victorias City, Negros Occidental yesterday morning.

He was 30-year-old resident Roy Sanchez, police said.

According to Victorias City police station chief Lieutenant Colonel Eduardo Corpuz, undercover policemen shot him.

Corpuz said the buy-bust was carried out at around 6:20 a.m. Sanchez sold to the undercover policeman a sachet of shabu.

When the cops was about to arrest Sanchez, he drew a .38-caliber revolver – forcing policemen to open fire. He was killed on the spot.
Antidrug operatives recovered a total of 18 sachets of suspected shabu valued at around P600,000.

Meanwhile, the family of the suspect denied the allegations that Sanchez fought back with the police.

According to the suspect’s brother, Sonny, his house was located just beside his younger brother and the police forcibly entered the house.

Police investigation revealed that the suspect sustained multiple gunshot wounds on the body.

Operatives of the Negros Occidental Police Provincial Office Drug Enforcement Unit and Victorias City police station staged the operation./PN
