CAPIZ – Vice President Sara Duterte and former President Gloria Macapagal-Arroyo will be among the prominent personalities to grace Capiztahan 2023.

Gov. Fredenil “Oto” Castro confirmed that the two will be in the province on April 15.

The Maragtas sang Capisnon Cultural Show (Parade of Floats and Street Performance), one of the event highlights, would be held on the same day.

Castro said the 19-day Capiztahan is a prelude to what the festival would be in 2024 and in the years to come.

The provincial government has allotted P57.6 million, according to Committee on Appropriations chairperson Board Member Jonathan Besa.

Capiztahan 2023 will officially kick off tomorrow, April 13, and will run until May 1.

It is also held in line with the celebration of the 122nd Founding Anniversary of the Civil Government of Capiz.

Capiz was established in 1901 through Act No. 115, or “An Act Extending the Provisions of the Provincial Government Act to the Province of Capiz.”/PN
