BACOLOD City – Senior Superintendent Jack Wanky, director of the Bacolod City Police Office (BCPO), once again reminded the 10 chiefs of police in the city to intensify their anti-crime campaigns.
Wanky instructed them to review their anti-crime strategies, especially that of their Theft and Robbery sections.
“Focus more on police visibility. Officers must be deployed in the crime-prone areas so that people can easily ask them for help,” said Wanky during a staff conference at the BCPO conference room.
Wanky also directed the deployment of “Intellegencia,” or covert patrols, to maximize the utilization of informants from the Barangay Information Net.
The police will also use motorcycles to counter the “riding-in-tandem” criminals in the city.
BCPO personnel assigned at the headquarters must also patrol their areas, 2 hours a day – in the morning and afternoon, Wanky instructed.
“We want the people to know that the BCPO is doing its best to maintain peace and order in Bacolod City,” he said.
The BCPO director also encouraged crime victims to “do their part” by filing charges against offenders.
“Without the charges filed, some arrested suspects are freed,” Wanky explained, highlighting the importance of police-community relations.
Putting up regular checkpoints and adding 100 police officers were the initial actions done by the BCPO to combat robbery and other crimes in the city./PN
