BACOLOD City – A joint operation staged by the National Bureau of Investigation and the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency raided a policeman’s house yesterday in Regent Pearl Homes Subdivision, Barangay Alijis.
The search warrant was served at the house of Senior Police Officer 1 Joshua Barile around 6 in the morning.
Recovered from Barile’s house were several high-powered firearms, bullets, grenades, and plastic sachets of shabu, a police report showed.
The exact count was yet to be known.
Barile denied that he owns the recovered illegal drugs and the grenades. He said the items were “planted.”
The confiscated firearms, on the other hand, were something that he can justify, Barile claimed.
Barile is the section head of the Regional Civil Security Unit of the Negros Island Region Firearms and Explosive Office located in Barangay 39.
He said he brought the guns to his house for “safekeeping,” especially that the office’s vaults were already full.
“Wala ta mahimo, atubangon ta na lang,” lamented Barile. “Indi man ko karesist kay kabalo man ko sang procedures.”
The police officer said a “powerful and influential” person in Negros Occidental was behind the allegations.
Barile has pending cases in relation to the killings of Wilmar and Wilfredo Serenio, brother and father of Ricky Serenio, a Berya drug group member.
Senior Superintendent Jack Wanky, director of the Bacolod City Police Office, said he received reports that Barile plans to join the rebel group in the highlands of Negros Occidental once an arrest warrant serves him./PN
