BACOLOD City – The provincial government of Negros Occidental is eyeing weekend activities at the Capitol Park and Lagoon here.
It is the passion of Gov. Eugenio Jose Lacson to make the capitol the center of cultural exchanges, said Provincial Administrator Atty. Rayfrando Diaz.
For now, Diaz said they are working with several music groups to hold jamming sessions at the park every Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
“This is for the cultural development of our youth and we are developing talents, exposing them to the venue,” he said.
He pointed out those who watch and listen at the jamming sessions are also developing their cultural awareness and they would like the park to become a place where the Negrense culture could be experienced.
Diaz said some individuals are even suggesting the park to host free movies related to the history of the province so that Negrenses will know their roots and be proud of their identities.
The Capitol Park and Lagoon is a popular spot for Negrenses who would like to relax during the weekends, especially among families./PN
