ILOILO City – A 17-year-old working in a bakery owned by Tanza-Ezperanza barangay captain Noel Odicta had been shot.
“Tisoy” was packing bread inside Nanay Vicit Bakery when two unidentified motorcycle-riding suspects dropped by and fired at him around 8:45 p.m. on Thursday, Odicta said in a radio interview.
The minor was hit on the buttocks. He was taken to the Iloilo Doctors’ Hospital in Molo district.
Odicta was clueless on who attacked his delivery boy and why.
“Daw blanko pa gid kami kay kagab-i sa sulod ako ya sang kwarto. Dugay-dugay, naglinupok kag nagguluwa kami,” he said.
The suspects have fled.
Odicta is the elder brother of the slain suspected drug lord Melvin Odicta Sr.
He called Tisoy his “adopted,” referring to someone under foster care. He said he was helping the boy in his studies.
Odicta said the attackers may have mistaken Tisoy for him. “Kaangay kami ni Tisoy panglawason kag panghulag (We have similar built and ways),” he claimed.
The barangay captain described the victim as “very nice” and “responsible.”
“Sa pagkabuot ni nga bata. Kon may ulubrahon sia, ginatapos ya gid na,” said Odicta.
The caliber of the firearm the suspects used remained unknown as of this writing.
Security camera footage helped the police identify the suspects but did not help much in determining the motive, said Senior Superintendent Remus Zacharias Canieso.
“We have to withhold the suspects’ names because we are still conducting a manhunt operation,” the Iloilo City Police Office director said.
A source told Panay News family feud was the motive.
Someone paid the suspects to threaten the barangay captain, the source added./PN
