IT’S no secret that Robin Padilla once disapproved of his daughter Kylie’s relationship with Aljur Abrenica – a rift that they’ve all since mended, as seen in touching moments during the couple’s recent wedding.
On Instagram on Friday, Abrenica shared photos of him receiving the blessing of Kylie’s parents, Padilla and Liezl Sicangco.
The same set of photos also show Kylie in tearful moments with her family at the Dec. 11 ceremony.
Addressing Padilla and Sicangco as Mama and Papa, Abrenica thanked them “for welcoming me to your family, for always fighting what’s best for us.”
“That pushed me to be a better man for your daughter,” the actor wrote in the caption. “I feel blessed and grateful to have you as my in-laws, for I am always in favor of your wisdom, kindness, and understanding.”
“I am eager to get to know you more, serve you more, and learn from you,” he added.
Kylie, 25, and Abrenica, 28, welcomed their first child, Alas, in August 2017.
During Kylie’s pregnancy, Padilla and Abrenica were not on speaking terms. According to the actress, Padilla had wanted the marriage to come first.
It was only in February 2018 when Padilla and Abrenica faced each other to patch things up, with the latter getting his would-be father-in-law’s approval to marry his daughter. (ABS-CBN News)
