GUIMARAS – A motorcycle crashed into a tricycle, leaving one person dead and one injured, in Barangay Salvacion, Buenavista town around 6 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 17.
The fatality was identified as back rider Phrime Rose Acosta, 34, while the motorcycle driver was her husband, Adam Lynwyn Acosta, 37, both residents of Barangay Gaban, San Lorenzo town.
According to Buenavista Municipal Police Station (MPS) chief, Police Major Jeffrey Ferrer, Adam was in a hurry after allegedly trying to escape a checkpoint but crashed into an incoming tricycle driven by Reynaldo Olarte, 42, of Barangay Salvacion.
Ferrer added that Phrime Rose was not wearing a helmet and got thrown away during the collision.
“Grabe ang padalagan sang motor kag nabunggoan niya ini ang nagapaliko nga tricycle rason nga todo ang impact kag nagtabog gid ini ang asawa kag wala pa nga daan helmet,” Ferrer said.
Adam is still being treated at a hospital as of this writing.
Meanwhile, Ferrer said they will look into the allegation that the Acosta couple were fleeing from a checkpoint and were being chased by the police.
The police chief also advised motorists not to run away if there is a checkpoint; otherwise, it only creates suspicion.
Investigation is still ongoing and police are still trying to determine if the motorcycle driver was drunk./PN
