ILOILO – The League of Municipalities of the Philippines (LMP) – Iloilo Chapter will hold an election on Aug. 25.
Chapter president Mayor Rosario Mediatrix “Trixie” Fernandez of San Enrique town is seeking reelection.
Will she have a challenger?
Fernandez said she has no idea. But she hopes there won’t be any.
Fernandez is now on her third consecutive and final term as mayor.
With or without a challenger, Fernandez said, “Nevertheless, we have to go through the election process.”
Fernandez’s reelection bid has the support of Gov. Arthur Defensor Jr., 2nd District’s Cong. Michael Gorriceta, 3rd District’s Cong. Lorenz Defensor, 4th District’s Cong. Ferjenel Biron, and 5th District’s Cong. Raul Tupas.
The inducting officer tomorrow is Department of Interior and Local Government secretary Benjamin Abalos, Jr.
