WIT, CPU, Bagwis FC go 2-0 in 7’s Football League

ILOILO City – Western Institute of Technology (WIT), Central Philippine University (CPU) and Iloilo City Bagwis F.C. cruised to their second straight wins in the 7’s Football League Iloilo Season 2 at the West Visayas State University Football Field here on Feb. 29.

John Robert Solen completed a hat trick, Celso Orquina Jr. chipped in two goals, while Karl Lester Alemane added another one as the defending champions WIT scored a 6-0 win over Janiuay FC (0-1).

CPU Golden Lions, on the other hand, survived a tight 5-4 victory over Camp Peralta FC (1-1). Barotac Nuevo’s Jed Delariarte fired two goals, while Jarlson Derutas and Sherwin Basindalan added one each for the victor.

Iloilo City Bagwis F.C., meanwhile, handed S Club 7 F.C. its second consecutive defeat, 6-1, with goal conversions from Armon Kenith Ballesteros, Victorino Camacho, Rich John Cabuday, Sidney Lavente, Kevin Sernicula.

Finally, Iloilo United F.C. bounced back from opening day loss with a 3-0 victory over Dyes Kantos F.C. (0-2). Maximo Gobuyan drained two goals, while Lordje Marcelino added one for the winning team.

In the women’s division, Ilonggo United F.C. recorded its second straight win with a 10-0 blanking of Janiuay F.C. (1-1). Sarah Sumalde fired three goals, Dianne Simpas and Shane Danos had two each, while Gabrielle Castro and Janelle Yanag each got a piece. 

Santa Barbara Locals F.C. also netted its second consecutive win by dealing Jaro F.C. another defeat, 4-0. Loren Marie Soriano finished with hat trick, while Edmarie Gwyn Julien Duqueza provided the other goal.

CPU Golden Lions equaled its win-loss record at 1-1 via a 9-1 domination over Camp Peralta F.C. (0-2). Goal scorers for the CPU women’s were Natasha Gene Cabantug, Stephanie Braga, Andrea Mingoy, Rea Majacoron, Maria Cordero and Hazel Lustan./PN
