MANILA – Western Visayas-based tracksters will spearhead the University of Santo Tomas women’s athletics team as they try to extend their dominance in the UAAP Season 82 athletics competition early next year.


Victorias City sprinter Jessa Mae Jarder is expected to banner UST after bagging the Most Valuable Player trophy for the school in the recent University Games in Iloilo City with six golds and one silver.

Also with the team are Aklanon jumper Alyssa Andrade who served as Tigresses’ team captain, along with Ilonggas Elvy Villagoniza, Pamela Marquillero, Edraline Celestial, and Berna Luz Talaron.


Three Negrense throwers are also part of the Tigresses team in Bago City natives Maryland Torres and Angel Lecaniel and Luz Delfin of Himamaylan.


UST women’s tracksters captured their fifth straight championship in Season 81 by garnering a total of 338 points beating runner up Far Eastern University by only 11 points.


The UST, meanwhile, has two more Negrense recruits in the high school level in thrower Jamela Poderoso Deasis of Kabankalan and hurdler Rosalie Estillore of Victorias City./PN
