ILOILO City – From 183,028 confirmed cases since the start of the coronavirus pandemic in 2020, as of March 26 of this year Western Visayas has just 2,360 active cases of coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) left.
Department of Health (DOH) Region 6 data showed Iloilo province with the most number of active cases (1,371) followed by Iloilo City (504).
Negros Occidental came in third with 382 remaining active cases followed by Aklan with 143; Capiz, 96; Bacolod City, 77; Antique, 46; and Guimaras, 11.
The number of recovered cases rose to 175,182 while the death toll stood at 5,477.
DOH data showed that the daily cases in region continue to decrease, with 20 cases as the lowest single-day recorded since January this year.
Seventy-four percent of the target population in Region 6 are now fully vaccinated against COVID-19.
Data from the DOH-6 showed that 4,760,772 of the 6,426,433 target population in the region have already been fully vaccinated while 208,692 are partially vaccinated.
Of the total number of fully vaccinated, over 132, 000 belong to priority group A1 or healthcare workers; over 150, 000 belong to expanded A1 or outbound OFWs and families of health workers; over 550,000 are senior citizens or A2; over 614,000 are adult with comorbidity or priority group A3; over 5,000 are expanded A3 or pregnant women; and over 1.1 million are A4 or essential workers.
Meanwhile, over 938, 000 indigent population or A5 are also fully vaccinated; over 518,000 are rest of adult population (ROAP); over 19, 000 are 12 to 17 pediatric A3 and over 661,000 are rest of pediatric population (ROPP)./PN
