ILOILO City – To merge all tourism stakeholders under one roof, the Department of Tourism (DOT) Region 6 in partnership with the The iEvents Philippines held the Western Visayas International Travel Fair (WVITF).
The 3-day event, which was kicked off by a business to business session yesterday at Seda Atria Hotel in Mandurriao district, gathered players from the tourism industry from the other parts of the country and around the world.
“Varied stakeholders like for travel agencies, for properties, for transportation … they usually go office to office. For the convenience of everyone, this [event] is cost-efficient and time-efficient,” said event director Christian Cesar Garrido.
Garrido furthermore noted that the fair is a way to help the tourism industry. “This is also to boost and help the [tourism] industry as we give priorities to DOT-accredited stakeholders.”
WVITF featured 86 exhibitors including Cebu Pacific, Injap Hotel, Waterworld Iloilo, Seda Atria Hotel, Richmonde Hotel, and Silkair, among others.
Garrido expects that the event will be successful and will attract more local and international investors.
“Personally, I expect this event to be very successful. So far, it is well-attended,” he said, adding that there are already reservations for the next WVITF.
WVITF will also stage an exhibit at SM City Iloilo. It will run until Dec. 11./PN
