ILOILO City — Western Visayas has achieved a 97.11 percent drug-cleared status across its barangays as of December 16, 2025, according to the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) Region 6.
Based on PDEA-6 data, three provinces — Aklan, Antique, and Guimaras — have attained a 100 percent drug-cleared status, making them the top performers in the region’s anti-illegal drugs campaign.
The Province of Iloilo followed closely with 99.94 percent of its barangays declared drug-cleared, with only one barangay yet to be cleared. Capiz recorded a drug-cleared rate of 93.66 percent, while Iloilo City posted 62.78 percent.
In total, out of the 3,389 barangays in Western Visayas, 1,984 have been classified as drug-cleared, while 1,307 barangays have been declared drug-free.
PDEA-6 explained that drug-cleared barangays are those that were previously affected by the presence of illegal drugs, underwent drug-clearing operations, and successfully passed the parameters set under the Dangerous Drugs Board (DDB) regulations.
Authorities emphasized that despite the high clearance rate, continuous monitoring, community involvement, and preventive programs remain essential to ensure that barangays maintain their drug-cleared and drug-free status./PN
